When the Ford Edge was introduced in the 2007 model year, it marked a clear departure for Ford away from their traditional truck-based SUVs to a modern crossover platform. Nevertheless, the five-passenger 2008 Edge delivers average gas mileage for its size.

While the Edge is less stingy with gas than its stablemate, the Ford Escape Hybrid, it takes the lead when it comes to options like the voice-activated SYNC communication and media system, rear seat DVD system, and Panoramic Vista Roof.
The 2008 Ford Edge is fitted with a 3.5 liter V-6 engine producing 265 horsepower and 250 foot pounds of torque, mated to a six-speed automatic transmission.
The Edge will become significantly more fuel efficient in the near future, as Ford rolls out its new engine technology. With direct injection, the 20% increase in the Edge’s gas mileage ratings will be most welcome.
Ford Edge Gas Mileage - 2007-2008
| Year | Manufacturer | Model | Engine | Disp. | Fuel | Trans. | City | Hwy |
| 2008 | Ford | Edge AWD | 6 cylinder | 3.5 liter | R | (L6) Auto | 15 | 22 |
| 2008 | Ford | Edge FWD | 6 cylinder | 3.5 liter | R | (L6) Auto | 16 | 24 |
| 2007 | Ford | Edge AWD | 6 cylinder | 3.5 liter | R | (L6) Auto | 17 | 24 |
| 2007 | Ford | Edge FWD | 6 cylinder | 3.5 liter | R | (L6) Auto | 18 | 25 |
Note: the EPA tweaked their testing procedure, starting with the 2008 model year, with the end result being that the 2008 MPG estimates are now lower than previous years. As always, YMMV.

my mother owns a ford edge se and it does not get 18 city and 25 hwy. it gets better gas milage then that it gets about 20 city and 35 hwy
We have a 2007 edge. It gets poor mileage with gas containing 10% ethanol (19-20 Highway).
With gas containing no ethanol we see (22.5-23 Highway).
We have never seen the 25 MPG advertised by Ford.
I have a ford edge and like seadog, It will only get the advertised mileage if your goin downhill with a wind behind you. It sucks, 22 miles / gal highway 18 city at the best. Usually worse. Thats goin by actually miles not the computer/ though the computer does confirm it.
my 4.0l explorer got this, so why drive something so ugly and useless and get crappy mileage
2008 Ford Edge Limited, Love this car, however, after less than 10K miles I am having issues with the cam phasers. Both intake and exhaust. Car has been in the shop for over a week today and cant seem to get clear answers. Was explained to me that these parts may be what is causing the poor gas mileage. Very disappointed.
