1. K, this site is very informative but it still didn’t answer my question, you need to add a column that give the gas milege if you put these vehicles on E85, I have a 2005 4D 4WD 3.7 V6 dodge dakota and I want to know if it will run off E85 safely, can ANYONE answer me?

2. @kendra – it might be best to check with your Dodge dealer to see if your Dakota is capable of running E85. The chart shows E85 for some 2008 models, but nothing for prior years.

   Note that vehicles capable of running E85 achieve significantly lower mileage when running E85 when compared to conventional gasoline.

3. I have a 97′ Dodge Dakota SLT Reg Cab 5.2 V-8 5 spd manual. Truck has always been dependable, and only 75,000 miles. Truck starts up fine, then as soon as a couple city blocks wants to die when I pull my foot off the accelerator for an intersection. Drives just fine with full power on open road, but just dies when I go to slow down. Will fire right back up though!! Can you help me out here? Thanks

4. I bought a 2003 2wd v6 Dakota with a automatic trans a few months ago. The truck runs and drives just fine. It gets about 12 mpg less than many full size cars including a cadilac and runs about half as fast. I checked it while driving a little more than half on hwy and the rest in city and got 14.7 mpg. Runs perfect. I may buy an older cadi. Front wheel drive gives it better traction, the trunk is nearly as big as the dakotas bed , rides 5 times better and quieter and gets right at 26 mpg. It may cost you three thousand more depending on the model, but there are several others like the malibu getting 30 mpg and very fast costing about the same. Why does this great little truck suck on fuel milage? I need to get rid of it even though I like driving it . Full size chevy with a 350 v8 gets 17mpg. Dodge? How long you guys been building these things? Im missing something here. Gotta be.

5. I was wrong about the v8 full size chevys. They get about 20 mpg.

6. what im seeing the dakota 4×4 makes crapy gas milage, it about the same as the full size F150 4×4 so why buy a little truck. 2001 dakota is 13 city and 17 hwy worst than ranger 4 liter and chevy s10 4.3 w/ auto.

7. The Dakota V6 is the worst truck I have ever owned for gas mileage. [removed] dealer on [removed] do not trust what they say on how wonderful their vehicles are or on how great their service is because once they got you they don’t care after they have sucked you in.
