Trail-Rated Jeep Renegade Trailhawk Crawls Through Sloppy Mud

I had the opportunity to put a 4WD 2016 Jeep Renegade Trailhawk to the test a few weeks back at a Chrysler track day event at the Summit Point Motorsports Park in West Virginia. It was a rainy day at the track, as the remnants of Hurricane Joaquin moved up the eastern seaboard. The persistent precipitation turned the off-road test track into a marvelously mess … which is exactly what you hope for when you’re testing 4x4s. I hopped into a brand new trail-rated 2016 Renegade Trailhawk with BeCarChic.com’s Melanie Batenchuk and Jim Morrison, Director of Jeep Product Marketing.

Truth be told, I wasn’t exactly sure what to expect of the Renegade Trailhawk off-road. I’d only had the opportunity to drive one briefly before, and that was a half hour drive on two-lane blacktops and highway. I was skeptical, despite the Trail Rating. A nice sloppy jaunt through the mud and my opinion changed. Watch this video and yours may change, as well. It’s an eye-opener (and a fun ride).

Made Across America

Do you know where your car, truck, or SUV was made? While many folks overlook the fine print*, the place of origin has significant implications on the American economy. The auto industry is back on track, with 16.9 million new vehicles sold in America in 2014, up from a low point of 11.5 million in 2009. This resurgence has created over 400,000 new jobs over that timespan, at automotive manufacturers, suppliers, and dealerships.

Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Conquers the Mountain

Have you ever dreamed about climbing a ski mountain in a Jeep? I know I have. The thought of scaling peaks in a 4×4 has crossed my mind countlessly over the years while riding on the chairlift. So when BF Goodrich asked if I might be interested in a hands-on demo of their their brand new All-Terrain T/A KO2s at Hunter Mountain on a tricked out Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, I jumped on the opportunity.

This was not an ordinary media junket. I didn’t need to get on a plane, dress up, or sit through a slide presentation. All I needed to do was gather up my cameras, drive Slambo up to Hunter Mountain, stay over one night, wake up and go four wheeling in a wicked modded Jeep Wrangler with one of the best drivers in North America.

Getting Real with Synthetic Fluids – Part I

Synthetic fluids are a cornerstone of Ain’t Fuelin’s Mindful Maintenance program. They offer a higher level of protection for the drivetrain, reduced friction, and the potential for an incremental improvement in fuel efficiency. All that said, one of the best parts about switching to synthetic oil is the increase in the number of miles driven between oil changes.

In the video that accompanies this post, I demonstrate how easy it is to perform a D-I-Y oil change on a (slightly) lifted Jeep Wrangler TJ. We affectionately call our ’98 TJ “The Heep.” It’s also known as “The Black Hole” for all the money that we’ve poured into it over the years …
