Edmund Inside Line’s fuel economy review pits the Ford Focus against the Toyota Prius, Smart ForTwo, and VW Jetta TDI, putting gas mileage front and center against some pretty stiff competition. To be fair, the Focus is over-matched by this particular trio of foes when it comes down to gas mileage, specifically, but not when you look at the overall value proposition. Both the Prius and Jetta are significantly more expensive, and with just a pair of seats (as its name suggests) the less expensive ForTwo provides far less versatility.
