I don't understand why they don't make a mini-SUV hybrid, such as on the platform of a Toyota RAV4 or Honda CRV. It would be nice to get around 40 mpg in one of these vehicles.

[...] Although the gleam is long off the apple, America hasn’t given up on the sport utility vehicle (SUV) just yet. While sales of conventional SUVs have dropped dramatically, hybrid SUV models are selling quite well … and for good reason. Hybrid SUV mileage ratings are substantially higher than their conventional counterparts. With that in mind, we spent a good part of this past year testing SUV mileage, with a big focus on the most fuel-efficient hybrid SUVs. [...]

I bought an escape hybrid when they first came out a couple of years ago and love it.

just passed 90,000 miles on it. runs great, gets 28 MPG doing about 80 MPH in the mornings and 35 MPH in the afternoons for a 160 mile round trip daily commute.

Have changed the tires, the wipers, regular oil changes/ filters. The alternator went bad around 40k. other than that, it has been problem free.
