Not all luxury sedans are gas hogs!
These days, it's possible to save on gas and be green, while riding
in style. The best gas mileage luxury sedans give up little to
their gas guzzling brethern when it comes to comfort. Choose a
certain German luxury sedan and you stand to save thousands upon
thousands of dollars per year in the cost of fuel.
The
2007 Mercedes-Benz E320
Bluetec is the hands-down MPG winner in the Luxury
Sedan class. Mated to an electronically controlled seven-speed automatic
transmission, the E320's 24-valve 3.0 liter V-6 diesel engine, delivers
a very respectable 23 city and 32 highway miles per gallon. With
208 horsepower (at 3,800 rpm) and net torque of 388 lb-ft (between
1,600 and 2,400 rpm) the MB E320 has plenty of ooomph off the line
and on the highway.
Decade after decade, Mercedes-Benz's diesel-powered
sedans have set the standard for fuel economy with luxury. The
E320 Bluetec, along with its 4WD SUV diesel-powered brothers --
GL320 CDI, ML320 CDI SUV, and R320 CDI SUV -- give all every other
automaker something to shoot for ... should those manufacturers
ever get off their duffs and choose to compete in an American
marketplace hungry for the ever-obvious benefits
of domestically produced biodiesel.
