John, what makes you think that's why someone bought an audi? I have a 1996 AUDI A4 QUATTRO with the 12 valve 2.8 engine, it runs like brand new and has about 137k miles. There is a led that's out on my tach, and one that goes in and out. The climate control display goes in and out as well, but neither of these things keep me from enjoying the car, nor or they a big deal. The car drives and runs, and even looks like an almost new car. I highly recommend this car. I have leather and it still looks brand new. You can't even hardly tell the engine is running at idle before the K&N you couldn't even hear it. The car will run 125 in 4th, but after shifting to 5th governor cuts me at 130, not bad for a car without even a turbo and less than 200 h.p.

I think with the tach unlocked and governor removed this car would hit the 160 it registers. I raced it in auto cross once, the first time I ever did auto cross, and was within 9 seconds of all cars there. And that includes cars on r-compound tires, lotus elise, vettes, etc. Your not likely to win a bunch of drag races, but this car is far from as slow as a lot of people make it out to be. On a long stretch you can outrun most cars.

It still amazes me what suckers Americans are for such MPG statistics. Go anywhere else in the world and you'll regularly find non-hybrid vehicles doing 50 and 60 mpg.

Wake up!

The info on the Audi just tells me that the car is still well made. I've owned 2 Audi(s) in the past and have enjoyed them both the only complaint was the stero system. Hope that 's been corrected. I'd like to see the pricing but knowing what the car can do on a MPG and it's built factor leaves me comfortable in getting another.
