Despite living on a gravel road in snow country, I'm getting around 28 mpg (overall) in winter, and 32 in summer -- with 4WD! And that's with liberal use of heated seats and such in the winter, too. I'm surprised mileage isn't more, considering the light weight and small engine, but it's a great start. I’m very pleased with my Escape Hybrid (2008 model).
