@Paul

Because Americans don't like diesel. Diesel has been until only recently very smelly/dirty and associated with transfer trucks, buses, and large trucks. It's going to take some time to overcome that, and currently, most manufacturers don't want to take the risk or spend the $ on advertising to achieve that. With the popularity of hybrids and of gas, I see hybrid/battery technology and Ford's Ecotec-type engines growing only more prevalent.

While I'm concerned with climate change, I realize that vehicles are only a small part of the equation. I'm more worried about our dependence on foreign oil and I'd prefer if we have to worry about battery waste and getting the energy from our own coal than have to rely on unstable foreign countries to supply it. Ever been to Dubai? It makes me sick that our wealth is being drained from us to fund the building of huge artificial islands and skyscrapers for the world's wealthy. Imagine the amount of money that could be saved and go towards our economy by not having to go outside our borders for energy.

@TexasSara - The letters and numbers denote the type of transmission and number of gears.

A=Automatic
L=Automatic lockup
M=Manual

The A3 is a three-speed automatic, the M5 a five-speed manual, and the L4 a four-speed automatic lockup.

I had to look this up to be sure, but lxi is not a model of Honda, xi means eleven in roman numerals, and the LX is the luxury edition, SE is Special edition and EX is I am assuming the economic of efficient edition. Regarless, I have the same question, what do the letter and number in the parenthesis next to the denotation of manual or automatic, ie: A3, M5, L4, etc?

You have the Honda Accord 2006 manual 4 cylinder listed as 34 city and 28 hwy... is that a typo? Seems like the city is almost always lower than the hwy. How can city be higher than hwy? Please explain.
